Our NPI inspectors were beyond thorough, more than happy to educate along the way, and overall made my fiancé and I feel more comfortable about buying our first home. If you’re going somewhere else, you’ve already messed up.

Frequently Asked Questions About Buyer's Inspections

National Property Inspections Wisconsin is here to help you get the clarity and confidence you need to make an informed home purchase. Below, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions that homebuyers have about inspections, so you can feel informed and prepared as you move forward in your homebuying journey.

The average home inspection takes between 2 and 3 hours. Factors that can affect the inspector’s time on site include the size and age of the property, and any additional services requested.

We encourage you and your agent to be present for the last 30 minutes of the inspection so that we can conduct a final walkthrough. During this time, we’ll show you any important findings and you’ll have a chance to ask as many questions as you’d like.

Your inspector will assess all of the home’s major structures and systems to determine their current condition, as well as needed maintenance or repairs. We also pay close attention to issues that can compromise the health and safety of a home like water intrusion, gas leaks, smoke detector functionality, handrail placement, and trip hazards.

Houses never “pass” or “fail” an inspection. Anything can be fixed! We are here to act as an unbiased third party so that you can understand the condition of the home and make the best decision for your family.

No, your inspector will not damage, modify, or move anything in the home to complete the inspection. We have the tools and technology to spot hidden issues and enter hard-to-reach places without the need for invasive measures.

The inspection report we provide is the property of the party that pays for the inspection service. In most real estate transactions, the homebuyer pays for the inspection of the home they’ve made the offer on.

It depends. Based on the type of loan you’re applying for, a home inspection may be required or optional—but either way, it’s always a good idea.

Here is a list of tasks that the current occupant or listing agent should plan to complete prior to the inspector’s scheduled appointment.

Our Client Testimonials

Here’s what our inspection clients have to say about their experience with NPI.

David B.
Very thorough and timely. I have used NPI several times and each time the inspector does not mind me or the buyer following along, and also explains things as they go. Each time I also receive a very detailed report the next day. Excellent company to deal with.

This place is AWESOME! If you are looking to save money this winter, get your inspection done here. I spoke with Jim who is very personable and knowledgeable. He is very informative and will go over all the details you need to know. Look no further, you won't be disappointed 🙂

Ryan was great to communicate with throughout the transaction; very polite and professional. His report on the duplex inspection was thorough and extensive. He then followed up with a phone call to review all aspects. I highly recommend and would use this company again. Also, the receptionist was polite and very helpful on the phone!

Ryan took the time to answer questions and was a pleasure to work with. I’d previously had a negative experience with an inspection where a simple furnace check would have uncovered a huge hole in the furnace. This time, I was completely confident that I was receiving a thorough and accurate inspection with NPI. I highly recommend and would use them again!

NPI sent Ryan to do our home inspection, and we couldn’t be happier! He was thorough, and he pointed out maintenance that I should keep in mind. I had a very seasoned real estate attorney friend with us during the inspection, and she mentioned how impressed she was after only a few minutes of watching him work. I’d recommend Ryan and NPI to anyone!

Joe was amazing. He answered every question I had about what he was looking at and was happy to explain everything. He did such a thorough job, and I felt 100% confident he looked at and tested everything I was concerned about and more. Awesome job, super satisfied with the home inspection and detailed report with pictures.

We had NPI inspect our home twenty-five years ago when we purchased it. At that time they found a problem with a basement wall that the seller had to fixed. Now as we prepare to sell we had them perform a pre-sale inspection to address any concerns a potential buyer might have. I think that says it all!

I’ve used several different property inspection companies in the past and they all pale in comparison to National Property Inspections! Joe was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I recommend them to anyone buying a home. Whether it’s your first home or an investment property, I strongly suggest you call NPI!
